"Cut the bureaucracy that is strangling the growth of small and medium size companies" - that's the message that Elwyn Watkins, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Oldham East & Saddleworth, will be taking to a debate being held by the prestigious parliamentary publication The House Magazine on Sunday the 14th September.

He said, "Thousands more jobs could be created if small and medium size companies were not being strangled by government bureaucracy. Both this government and the last one promised that they would cut bureaucracy if they got into power and yet both have actually increased the amount of rules and regulations that they expect small and medium size companies to adhere to."

Elwyn has been invited to speak at the debate on "Strengthening the Economy of the North" as he has widespread business and commercial experience, including building factories and developing companies around the world.

Elwyn added, "When I moved back to live in the North-West five years ago, I was amazed by how much increased red-tape the government expects companies to do. Business around here would receive a big boost if we cut the red-tape."
