Liberal Democrat Party President Baroness Ros Scott was a hit on the doorsteps of High Crompton when she visited to support Elwyn Watkins' campaign yesterday, 26th April.

Baroness Scott was visiting to support Elwyn Watkins' bid to be elected as MP for the Liberal Democrat-Labour marginal seat of Oldham East and Saddleworth.

Elwyn said, "Ros is really well-known in the party as a keen doorstep campaigner. As a party we are founded on pavement politics and listening to people so it is always a pleasure to have someone like Ros up supporting us once again."

Baroness Scott had previously visited Oldham Borough in 2008 to support the local election campaign, during which the local Lib Dems won every seat in the Oldham East and Saddleworth constituency.

Baroness Scott said, "It's clear that the Liberal Democrats are on a roll in Oldham East and Saddleworth. I spoke to a lot of people who are usually Conservative voters who are lending Elwyn their support so that Labour are defeated this time."
